Wells Fargo Security Services originated with armed messengers riding shotgun and pioneering special agent investigators who protected stagecoaches and pursued outlaws during the 1850s California Gold Rush. Modern physical security and armored transport operated under the Wells Fargo name via licensing until the early 2000s, when the bank reclaimed its trademarks.
